Event: 2026 Purdue Ft Wayne Forums
Description
This session is three short talks in one.
What We Know About SystemCore (Mady Stricker)
SystemCore is the new FRC robot controller, and teams have a lot of questions about it. Mady will go over what’s been confirmed so far: when it’s expected to be available, how much it costs and how to get one, what software you’ll need, and what’s changing with the new CAN buses. Details are still coming out, so you’ll get the most current information available as of the event, along with what’s still unknown.

CAN Wiring Do’s and Don’ts (Sharon Lund)
CAN carries the communication for most of the devices on your robot, and a single bad connection can take down your whole bus. Sharon will cover the basics of how CAN works and the wiring habits that keep it reliable, plus the common mistakes that cause dropouts, missing devices, and frustrating debugging sessions on match day.

Shop Safety Refresher (Lara Fernando)
To close, Lara will give a quick talk on keeping your team’s shop safe. She’ll cover the habits, rules, and expectations that protect students and mentors in any build space, whether that’s a dedicated shop, a classroom, or a garage. It’s a good refresher for veteran teams and a solid starting point for new ones. This part is presentation only, not hands-on.
